But hey - you can name your child whatever you want.

No. I think it is too common. There are so many options for girls names that are not common, but are beautiful. What do you want her name to portray? Beauty? Sophistication? Fun? Think about your daughter, she has to spell it, and use it her whole life. If it is too "different" people may not be able to pronounce or spell it forever. It is your choice however, so have fun, I'm sure you will find the perfect name for your little blessing!

i agree with ladyjag............and what does it matter about the child being a mixed race? pick a decent name regardless of race. as far as shania - bad enough for a country singer let alone a regular kid!

If you do choose the name, spell it Shania. It's okay, I think you could do better though.
