I understand that this is the older part of Vegas, but to anyone who has stayed at the Plaza, what was your experience, and would you choose to stay there again?

I've probably stayed at the Plaza a half-dozen times. It's not fancy, but it's fine. If you're a low-roller like me, you just want a decent place to sleep. Plaza also has the only pool downtown besides the nice one at Golden Nugget. It's best to eat buffet at Main Street Station Casino next door, which is a great value. The Golden Gate diner across the street has much better food than the Plaza's diner, as does Magnolia Terrace at the 4 Queens. I only stay at the Plaza because it's such a good deal, but their showroom can also be worth going to. The slots are usually too tight; try the slots at Mermaids or Bayou (the places up Fremont where they give away bead necklaces at the door). If you don't mind the fairly high prices, you can try the Center Stage restaurant, but get a reservation for after dark so you can see Fremont Street Experience. That's really the reason to eat there. The only thing I eat at the Plaza is their little breakfast buffet, because it's convenient and you get a discount with the Player's card. DO sign up for the Player's Club to get discount coupons and room discounts. You can do this online ahead of time at

Yes, very familiar with the Plaza. It is located downtown near/in Fremont Street. For the price it is very good. Being a local I like Fremont better than the strip. Everything is cheaper and the atmosphere is less chaotic. I would stay there again.

I've stayed there a few times. Nice hotel/casino with easy access to fremont street experience. Cheap room rates will get me to stay there every time. The strip is an easy bus ride or taxi ride.
It's more laid back than the strip and definitely less people. I would recommend it.

nothing wrong with it. Downtown cheaper & better gambling. Easy to get up to Strip if you insist on going there to look at it. Have stayed there before before moved here.
