Jayant, I can understand your reasoning on the topic of Brady. I think he is highly underrated. But, the best?..........hmmmhhh?

Montana, I believe is an excellent choice. Lil Gee, Montana actually has 4 rings! '81, '84, '87, '88

CiCi has a crush on Favre! lol Good choice though. He is very durable and a consistent winner always trying to find a way to get the job done.

Judging by the answers we've gotten so far, it seems that Montana and Favre are the top runners for the best ever. I'm surprised we haven't heard more Elway mentions. I wonder what the so-called "experts" answers would be on this topic.

It's Joe Montana by a longshot. Not only was he a Domer (GO IRISH) but look at all his accomplishments:
8 Pro Bowls...EIGHT!
2 MVP's
3 Super Bowl MVP's
1990 Man of the Year for Sports Illustrated
Is the starter for thw NFL's "All-Time Team"
And of course inducted into the 2000 Hall of Fame class

So besides bombarding with accomplishments (and there's many more), he was a great leader, had a strong and accurate arm, and has a hand full of rings.

Sidenote: To prove athleticism, he was offered a basketball schorlarship to play for NC State. The man is amazing.

I'd love to say Roger Staubach but he missed too many years back in the Navy.

I say the old classic Johnny Unitas. He wore the best number for a QB (19), was tough as nails, a nice humble man, and had a cannon for an arm. Those Colts teams he led were among the best in league history and his leadership on offense and calm demeanor was priceless.

I'm older than alot of you guys so most responses will neglect some classic NFL QBs. People have short memories, and Unitas wasn't around in the ESPN/internet era of complete media saturation.

There are a lot of great choices but I say Unitas then Manning (Peyton not Eli or Archie lol) then Brady then Aikman then Favre then Elway.....then on down the list....

I can't name Marino at the top because of zero rings, and his Dolphin teams were never completely crappy at all during his career. And as a Cowboy fan even mentioning Montana is vomit-inducing. No way. And actually the first NFL game I ever saw in person was SB XIX when the 49ers beat Miami. It was the first game for Marino where he tossed more picks than TDs and the Dolphins got crushed.

Dan Marino.
Rocket arm, smart as hell, holder of many many many unbroken quarterback records and..........
The inventor of the fake spike. What's better than that?

I think other people's answers which revolve around the number of Super Bowl rings is not necessarily the sign of the "best" QBs. In the case of Tom Brady or Joe Montana, yes.
But look at trent Dilfer, he's got a Super Bowl ring and is one of the worst quarterbacks of all time.

I've gotta go with Brett Favre. Sure he's bound to throw more picks than anyone ever, but he's thrown more passes and will throw more TDs than anyone else too. 17 Seasons of play and the longest active starting streak and all time. Great personality, loves to play the game, has great respect for everyone, won a Super Bowl, three-time MVP....he's a great player, it's sad to see him go, and even worse that so many people want him to go even though he's still better than a lot of other QBs in the league.

Well, this seems easy to me. Brett Favre. Why? Because he comes out and plays every game. He has also been to the big show twice and brought home the RING! He has been a faithful and loving husband, son and team mate and he would go to bat for his team everytime. he rises above all of the bullshit and never pats himself on the back.
Oh, and what a babe!
