Gone by Lisa Gardner is a good thriller; since Hide (her newest book) hit the bestseller list you should be able to find Gone at the library.

Fast Food Nation is an excellent and thought provoking book.

Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls is a very good memoir and an easy read.
