Lou Thesz
A legitimate tough guy fighter, not simply an actor like many wrestlers today. He is recognized as both the youngest and second oldest Worlds Heavyweight Champion in the history of Professional Wrestling. His combined title reigns are a total of over 13 years, making him the longest reigning Worlds Heavyweight Champion in Pro Wrestling. He is credited with the invention of several moves, including the power bomb, STF, and the Lou Thesz Press which was named after him. He was involved in some of the most pivotal matches in the history of the industry, including the historic match against Buddy Rodgers resulting in the WWWF (now the WWE) splitting from the NWA. Thesz wrestled late into his 70s, making him one of the oldest competitors in the industry with a career that spans seven decades. His most distinctive feature is that he lacks one. Lou never used a gimmick during his whole career, focusing only on wrestling and wrestling good. That is why he was the greatest wrestler of all time.

There are two names that can be mentioned Hulk hogan and Stone Cold Steve Austin. Hulk Hogan because he made wrestling main stream and popular and Stone Cold because he made it cool and ok to watch wrestling, and we all remember back in the day when you watched wrestling but never talked about it because people would make fun of you for it even though they watched it too and Stone Cold is the one who changed that. Some people may say Ric Flair becasue of the 16 world titles but remember almost all of those cam in WCW were any one could be champion so those dont really count.

Hulk Hogan, 45 years and is still on top of the game. NO ONE has beat his time and presence in the sport. Look at all the ones who have come and gone and HE IS STILL HERE... and at the TOP too... Just that fact will make him #1.

Verne Gagne. Without him, wrestling wouldn't have ever been anything.
Although, if you want someone more current, then it would be Ric Flair. He's done so much for the buisness. And even though a lot don't like his style...you can't deny he is a legend in the buisness.
