Unless you intend to keep them right upto the use by date (I usualy use mine within a couple of days of buying them) there really is no reason to keep eggs in the fridge. I suppose they may be stored in the fridge but, esp if you are baking with them, they should be alowed to come back to room temp before using.

Simply by putting them in a bowl of water before you crack them (or boil them) you can test their freshness. If the egg stays fairly flat on the bottom of the bowl it's fine, if it tilts up on one end of the shell it needs using quickly and if it floats, it's gone bad

Yes, I do keep eggs in the fridge, and have found this information from Food Standards Agency website -

Storing eggs safely
Here are some tips to help you store your eggs safely:

Do store eggs in a cool, dry place, ideally in the fridge.
Do store eggs away from other foods. It's a good idea to use your fridge's egg tray, if you have one, because this helps to keep eggs separate.
Do eat dishes containing eggs as soon as possible after you've prepared them, but if you're not planning to eat them straight away, cool them quickly and then keep them in the fridge.
Don't use eggs after their 'best before' date for the safest choice.
Don't use eggs with damaged shells, because dirt or bacteria might have got inside them.

No, I don't either. Apparently, if they are stored in the fridge, especially the special egg holders in the doors of fridges, the fluctuations in temperature as the door is opened and closed encourages nasty bacteria to form inside them. I don't know how true this is though.

Eggs spoil quickly. The shells have pores. Keep them in their box in the refrigerator.

I don't know what "shop" you are talking about, but at my Grocery Store they are kept refrigerated prior to buying them. Once you get a good case of salmonella you will refrigerate them, trust me.
