I don't think there are any specific classes you need to take before entering any college program. However, if you want to get into a school like Harvard or Stanford you need to have top grades - probably including AP courses. You need to do well on your SATs and/or ACTs. And you need to have extracurricular activities. If you plan to go into law, I would recommend taking debate and speech classes and perhaps even join the debate team. If your high school offers Latin, that might be worth taking for your foreign language requirement.

Beyond that, I don't think your average high school offers any classes that would specifically prepare you for studying law.

There are no prerequisite classes that you should take in High School to get into Law School.

1) On law school applications, 99% of your application is dedicated to undergraduate work. The only time I mentioned my high school was when they specifically asked what high school I attended.

2) Even in college, there are no prerequisites for entering in law school, apart from taking your LSAT. That, and your grades, are usually the determinative factors as far as what schools you get into.

3) Just some advice for down the line.... If you like law, that's great, do Political Science or Pre-Law in college. However, it should be noted that law schools are becoming tired of poli sci and pre-law majors. They are certainly the most popular, but because everyone does those courses, it is very competitive. Law schools LOVE people who major in math, philosophy, economics, biology - things that are atypical. Furthermore, as I am now job hunting, law firms also love to see that unique background. In addition, some law firms (ex. tax firms) will only hire people with a specific undergraduate degree in a particular science field.

Important thing is to take what you want in high school. Try to take AP to get into a good college, and do well on your SATs. That should be your only focus right now.

Good luck!

Pre-law majors are immersed in reading and writing, so now’s the time to polish your skills. Read as much as you can. Get engaged in your English courses and strive to write well. History, political science, and language courses will also be valuable. Remember, the key is to build knowledge in a wide variety of subjects.
My high school offers classes like business law and medical law. also look for debate clubs and mock trial clubs

Really depends on your high school, they all offer different courses, and your best bet would be to ask what schools you want to get into, and ask your counsuling at school.
