It's kind of like who's the best guitarist ever. It's all personal preference. I own a Les Paul, a Strat and an ESP. All great electric guitars. They each have a different sound and playability. As far as acoustic, I prefer Martin. I own a D1r and a D28. Totally different sounds, but both great guitars. But Taylor makes a nice acoustic. So does Gibson. People like James Taylor use private Luthiars to make their guitars. His is a James Olson. Play a lot an find what suits you.

You'd have to consider, the playability, durability, and the looks. Uless you're a collector. lol Personally I think the Epiphone Les Paul Standard is the best. Sure it's not a Gibson, but It's much stronger and looks great, I have one! I relly like it, I've had it since last May. If you're into acoustic, I think the best is any Seagull guitar. I also have one of those, it has beautiful sound and good looks. :-)
