every summer, i see a lot of young people (in particular) hanging outside of the doors of bars stone cold drunk. every day, walking down the street, i see people that are either "obese," "fat," "overweight," or not thin, athletic, or what some refer to as "average."

what is "average" weight anyhow? is it the type you see on tv commercials and on billboards? or is that sort considered as "fit," "athletic," or, in the case of women, "thin?"

what do you--especially men (please convey your age group)--think is worse? do you think it's worse if your girlfriend or wife is:

drunk? or

overweight? or

fat? or

obese? or

skinny? or

anorexic? or

drinks a lot?

is there anyone out there that thinks it is better that a person be overweight than being drunk? or drinking too much? or drinking too often?

which is worse: overdrinking / drunkenness or overweight?

why?

please state your sex and age group when you answer.

I am a female and quite stout......lol
I have never had a problem with heavy people (even when I was thinner), but I can not stand being around drunk people, they are rude (alot of them), and falling all over slurring their words.........nope, no drunks please...........
however, we've all been there (or many of us have, especially in our late teens and early twenties, but you have to grow up sometimes)........

Are we talking for a job or allowing in your life? As far as life goes I have no problem with either. I had a friend who drinked on the job as well as off but we could still have great conversation and he told me great stories about his life experiences. I'm fat by most peoples standards but can still ride a bicycle and do,across town if I want to. I drink too but I don't get violent,I just get mellow.
Now as far as a job goes---I don't think I would hire a drunk to drive a school bus,an anorexic as a food taster or an obese person to model Victoria's Secret clothes. Should a skinny person work in security or be a bouncer? The only people I have a problem with is panhandlers begging for money who have all their limbs and marbles but won't get a job some where.

I don't really understand the correlation between the two. But as you probably know, it's virtually impossible to have a rational conversation w/a drunk. I doubt you'd have that problem with an overweight person. The definition of drunkeness is altered judgment. There really is no sound reason to discriminate against someone who in your opinion and I emphasize "your opinion" is not "your" preferred body type. Let's remember that Anna Nicole Smith, at her fattest, was more beautiful that most thin women.

I can't say that I hate drunkards totally because I admit I'd like to get drunk once in a while with my husband. But it only happens once in a blue moon :P. I do get intimidated when I walk around the streets and is approached by a drunkard. I'm afraid what they might do to me because when alcohol takes over, people kinda release their inner self (which they tend to keep it a secret when they're sober).

I don't discriminate obese people, but I do wonder what they have done to their self. If only I could voice my opinion to them without them getting offended, I'd like to know more about them and why it happened to them. I wish they would eat healthier and get advice from the doctors and nutritionists out there who could help them. But first they must have the will power to fight it. So, yeah, I'd approach an obese person, rather than a drunkard :P

M, 45, Drunk drivers should be punished more severly in this country.
Please do NOT respond to this with" move there then", I'm just pointing something out.
You are sentanced to Death in many muslim countries for this, In Bulgaria, the policeman that pulls you over is allowed to put you on your knees and exacute you right beside your car. Just something to think about.

My natural father was a drunk. He beat my Mother, raped her (which is how I was conceived), kept her isolated from the world (no drivers license), and eventually tried to kill her.
