I have a Sony Vaio PCG-K415B laptop which I've had for 2 years. I have 4GB out of 14Gb free space on my C Drive and 7GB out of 16GB free on my D Drive yet the laptop runs exceptionally slowly. I hardly have any large programmes on it like Photoshop or anything...

Any suggestions as to how I can speed things up? Thank you.

I would do a disk cleanup, a defrag and an error checking, which is all accessed by right clicking on your C: drive and going to properties.

I don't know if you have any antivirus installed, but thats allways a good option to do, grab Avast or Avg and run the antivirus. Also grab spybot and search for spyware.

Also something like this program(free from www.downloads.com) CCleaner 1.36.430 can also rid you of old registry files.

Also adding more RAM can speed up a laptop(slightly).
If you have a low amount, which you don't state.

Memory is the biggest issue usually. If it's two years old it probably doesn't have much - check the slots underneath inside and see if there's room for upgrade - then whack it up to 1GB minimum and see it whiz. More simply, defragment your hard drive (in system tools) and clear any unrequired files by doing a search for *.tmp files and deleting them.

A system cleanup and defragment the harddrive - look in Control Panel.

Download Spybot as well and let it clean out any nasties.

sparkling the exhaust followers for airborne dirt and mud. As processors get warm they decelerate! you could also evaluate popping a truly affordable SSD card in as a clean HDD which could seriously grant you with extra appropriate overall performance.
