Firstly, MEN don't do anything. Individuals, who may or may not be men do things. Are women idiots? No! but somebut some idiots r women. Now that me and u r past the technical b.s I can tell u that the reason the so many men and women aren't involved in their children's or soon to be children's lives is because they don't feel as though they are ready for the responsibility or because they don't want to fail there children by not providing for them (as if not being there is the better choice). Realistically though, know one REALLY has to take care of their off spring. I know that some people hate me for this position but think about it. Is there any unquestioned rule or law that is not man made that binds forces us to take care of our children? Sadly there isn't and people do have the capability to just walk away. What makes us stay is moral responsibility. The government attempts to promote morality and to impose financial responsibilities that will encourage us to be a part of our kids lives but nothing can make us do it because morality is just an opinion (subjective).
I think that even though u r in a uncomfortable situation, if u wanted a 2 parent family then u have to take most of the blame for this one. This is because u made a decision to get pregnant. However u didn't do it with a guy who had the moral beliefs that would encourage him to be a part of your life and the baby's life. U didn't use good judgment and although we all wish that people would "do the right thing" in this situation, if his belief on what the right thing is differs from yours how can u expect him to be there 4 u? In the future u should make sure that u know where the guy stands on this type of thing and see if u r on the same page. Talking about these things is sooooo important.
-I Wish u the best of luck and hope that the guy will be involved.

Its just easier on them to take off and leave us with the raising of the children. Like they have no responsibility!
My husband left after 20 years my kids were 13 11 and 2. I am left to look after our past while he moved to mommy's to take care of her house! He is not close to the kids when he was here and now that he has been gone for 3 years he doesn't see them. The courts make sure he pays his child support and it has been here maybe not on time every time but it is regular! Good luck to you and make him pay do not let him get away with giving you nothing! God Bless!

Men run from their responsibilities because they are little snot-nosed punks. They can hardly wipe their own ****, never mind wiping a child's, or changing a dirty diaper. Be the head of the house??You must be joking. Most women are the head of the house, cause there aren't too many punk guys who have the balls to do it. They leave their children to live in poverty with a stressed out young mother, with no money,. Story of my life. But I managed quite well, once I got it together. MAKE HIM PAY. Deadbeat dads, how true. Millions of them, out making more babies with the stupid young girls who don't no nothing about closing their legs, or birth control. Sorry about the outburst, but I have been there, and know hundreds of women who have too. It is really sad, and a crime in my books.

My ex left me at 8 months pregnant-my father left my mom at 8 months pregnant. I think it's when the reality sets in that this isn't going to go away.
My daughter is going to be 13 next month and her father has never seen her, even though I am in contact with him. He doesn't want to because he doesn't want the responsibility. He wants to do what he wants to do.
You just have to do for you and the baby and don't spend any extra energy (because you won't have any) on trying to make someone step up.
You can do it, though! Good luck, girl!

Maturity is the issue. Some men never do mature; there are women, unfortunately, who have the same problem.
It is difficult to tell which man or woman will choke when the time comes, though. Don't beat yourself up for not being able to recognize his immaturity.
I'm glad you're mature enough to follow through. The problem will come when he realizes that it isn't all that awful and wants to come back. Will you accept his apologies, or be too disgusted to look at him?

sorry to hear this, what an immature jerk. You know what? I suggest you go after him for child support, let's see him run then. If he has a regular job, contact an attorney and make sure his wages are garnished. There is no reason for you to handle this alone. Motherhood is a blessing and a gift. I am sure you will be a wonderful mom. Make sure you have your friends and family around you to help. Good Luck.

Because they can be immature. If he didn't want a baby, he should have used protection. But there are women who are just as bad. They leave the kids with the husband all the time and move on.

For the same reasons women do.
They are scared to deal with them.
They seem to get by with acting this way.
They dont seem to be looked down upon or made to suffer for the way they are.
They dont seem to have to pay much of a price for being the way they are.
They are taught by todays liberals standards that it is all about what they want, how they feel, etc. They find that their is always an exuse to be used as well as a crowd of people who will champion your cause as an irresponsible twit.

Responsibilities like you describe come in at least two flavors:
1. An opportunity to grow as a person.
2. A life-sentence of recurring misery.
And it depends on the woman & the man and what kind of character and attitude they have.
