Write lyrics and if you think they are good enough, try asking bands/promoters on myspace if they would be interested in them.

First Lizz is it you have to have a catalog which are songs you wrote, Copyright even if you get on the computer and go to my space with a sound recording of one of the songs, so others can hear the song, Which is a public Performance. After that you can check out ASCAP, OR B.M.I., P.R.O. Performance Rights Organization. Sign up with one of those, load your Catalog an wait for a song writer or a record label that likes your song to pick you, SEE when they like a song in your Catalog, you being the Composer, them or the artist being the interpreter make s the song a hit you'll get paid royalties for the number of time your song is played on the radio and or sold, just a percentage though. But that's the basic song writers pack for money, i learned that stuff from school.

First, you need to learn how to write songs. Second, get connected! Music industry is all about networking. Go to Paramount Group for info on what you need to do. TAXI is another great way to get your music heard. Also, I suggest trying to enter some song competitions, local and national. The John Lennon Songwriting Contest is a good place to start. Expect to spend money to do all this!

Find a singer, play them your music then get a music publishing contract... that's how it happened for me!!

Other wise send samples to music publishing companies/ record companies. Do a search online.

Make sure you post a recording with a transcript of any lyrics to yourself before sending any samples.
