Why is it important, or unimportant, to you?

To find life, intelligent life in particular, on other planets could prove as revolutionary to humanity's world-view as the finding that the Earth revolved around the Sun, rather that the other way around... At least that would be my personal hope. We would perhaps no longer think of humanity as the centre of the universe, or the pinnacle of "creation"...

A little dose of humility is never a bad thing, although some fundementalist religious types might think of alien life, particularly if the aliens weren't religious in the sense that they understand and can appreciate, as being some clever deception on the part of Satan to sway beievers away from "true" religion...

I would hope, however, that the life encountered would be benevelent, and perhaps even help us overcome some of the pressing issues that face us...

something thoroughly distinctive. they would not additionally be carbon based. in basic terms look into the existence right here on earth. there are literally hundreds of varieties of species on our own planet. From vegetation, to bugs, to animals. None of them extremely look as though people. our bodies have been designed over hundreds of thousands of years of evolution to in good shape our desires for this planet. it is in basic terms approximately impossible that they might look precisely like us. Their planet's situations and ecosystem would could be precisely like ours and characteristic been created around a similar time. there may well be yet another M type planet accessible, yet for existence there (if existent) to resemble ours looks very not likely.

Sure. I dont think its either important or unimportant, I just think it is fascinating and something cool that we should be doing, rather than fighting and killing each other. Exploring and learning new things and meeting new people is much better in my book.

Absolutely. I think it's important that we at least attempt to find other life simply to prove that we AREN'T alone... or "special."

We are not "the highest of the highest" and I believe that finding extra-terrestrial life will give humanity the global kick in the ego we so desperately deserve.

Looking for other life in the universe is like buying lottery tickets.

The potential of what MIGHT be out there is virtually unlimited. Perhaps we can contact an intelligent race who can share vast knowledge that would end all our difficulties. Perhaps we can find a lifeform that works on entirely different principles and can be used to end all disease or extend the human lifespan indefinitely. Or maybe we'll just find a new home that we can expand to when we run out of room on this one.

The chance of us finding any of these things is so ridiculously small that it's hardly worth considering. Still... it's not zero. And people buy lottery tickets all the time. Maybe it's just an expression of hope, more than anything else.

The Vishnu Purana says that the earth is merely one of
thousands of millions of inhabited worlds like itself
to be found in the universe. Since they are created by
the one Alimighty who is infinite, they all must look
similar. This excludes the possibility of E.T. (extra
terrestial beings with fantastic gears) proposed by
some science finction writers.

I think that we should focus our efforts in making Earth a better place before we waste our time and resources looking for extraterrestrial life forms in the immensity of space.

For me, it's irrelevant.

Well its like this, God would not spend all his time on his creation and it be the only one. It would be a waste of time if you were in his shoes and thought like him. Think it about it completely. For the record to others. God doesnt have to be of any gender to be a creator. If a person is a creator of natural human beings and other objects in his eyes then they would be a God and they would have to be living forever and unkillable, no matter how you sought them out and how you planned to do it. So he think there is. Maybe its not the way we package it in our minds or entertainment. Then again maybe it is. Anyways, the realistic fact is that people who believe in only the human beings are narrowminded.
