If the spots look like little grains of salt, it might be White Spot disease. It can be fatal if not treated, but if you catch it and get it at the right time, you can fix it.

I put on a source that's a great site for fish help.

Ick... deffinately ick. Get some meds asap.. ick is such a nuissance. Make sure you have a heater, and if you don't, go out and get one. You need to keep the water temperature around 85 while you do the treatment for it to be as effective. Just get some ick medication, and do a 10% water change once a day for a week. That should do it! :)
Spend the xtra dough and get the good medication as well, ick can be a real pain to get rid of.
Also, get a water treatment that will help with stressed out fish. Some water conditioners double as a fish stress buster as well :)
Good luck!

Your fish have ick. It sounds like it's gotten pretty bad, so they are probably goners. If I remember right, there's something you can get to put in the tank to help, but I'm not sure how well it works. You may want to contact the store where you bought the fish and tell them what happened, in case the fish were infected when you got them.

To be brutally honest, they're just fish. You've only had them a week. Let them go. They're just Mollys, so it's not like they were a huge investment. After they have passed, you'll need to thoroughly clean the tank and anything that was in it before you use it again.

Good Luck with the next ones!

Sounds like your fish have what is called ICK and yes usually they do die, but go to your pet store and tell them and there are drops to put in there and hopfully your fish will survive. If not before you use your tank again...it will have to be completely cleaned or else you will have the same problem again

do a half water change, add a handful of tank salt and get something called rid ick. and treat the tank. Ick is an infection that looks like you sprinkled salt on your fish. If left untreated they will die!!

good luck

Sounds like Ich. This is serious. You need to get water temp to 85, add aquarium salt (NOT table salt) and probably use a copper sulfite based medication. Also water changes with a gravel filter, as poor water conditions due to lack of maintainance are the most likely cause.

Yup - most likely ich. Yes, they can die.

Check the temperature in your tank to be sure it's in the proper range as this can be a factor in getting ich. Slightly elevating the temp can help kill it off. (SLOWLY! Do NOT dump hot water in there!) Just rasing the heater temp gradually to 80* or so will help kill the ich.
