I'm a regular customer of Qwik Park:

Their door-to-door service (right from your car to the terminal) is the best and their shuttles run so frequently; virtually back to back. They offer an online coupon for one free day, so even though other days are $9/day, I think you come out ahead.

In comparison, the airport's Yellow Lot is $8/day and the Green Lot is $10/day and they don't pick you up right from your car.

$8 / day Economy Parking rate valid in most areas of the Big Blue Deck
Long-term Parking for $10 /day is also available in the Big Blue Deck

Parking at Detroit Metro Airport is easier and more convenient than ever before. With an 11,500-space parking structure which opened adjacent to the McNamara Terminal / Northwest WorldGateway in February of 2002, the airport now has nearly 17,000 available on-airport parking spaces. Travelers have a variety of options tailored to meet their individual needs. Economy parking is offered in the airport's Big Blue Deck and Yellow Lot, and closer Long-Term and Short-Term Parking options are also available in designated areas.

Travelers will find the Big Blue Deck especially convenient for flights departing out of the L.C. Smith Terminal (Air Canada, Air Tran, American Airlines, America West, Frontier, Southwest, Spirit, United and US Airways). The Big Blue Deck is located adjacent to the L.C. Smith Terminal and offers covered parking spaces within walking distance of the Smith Terminal.

The most convenient option for travelers departing from the McNamara Terminal (on Air France, British Airways, Comair, Continental, Delta, KLM, Lufthansa, Northwest Airlines and Royal Jordanian) is the McNamara Terminal Parking garage, which features covered Long-term, Short-term and Valet parking options, and is connected to the McNamara Terminal via an enclosed pedestrian bridge.

Free shuttle service from all of the airport's parking facilities to all terminals is also available.

$8 per day Economy Parking is available in the Economy section of the Big Blue Deck:

The Economy section of the Big Blue Deck has 4100 Covered Parking Spaces and is within walking distance of the airport’s L.C. Smith Terminal. The Smith Terminal serves many airlines such as, Air Canada, America West, American, Frontier, Southwest, Spirit, United and US Airways. Free Shuttle rides to all terminals every 15-20 minutes.

Watch for designated $8 rate signs at the entrance lanes of the Economy portion of the Big Blue Deck.

The Yellow Economy Lot, at $8 per day, has 700 Parking Spaces within walking distance of the Berry Terminal, which serves Champion Air, USA 3000 and many charter flights. Free Shuttle rides to all terminals every 15-20 minutes.

* Note: The Big Blue Deck also offers a Long-Term Parking Area for a daily rate of $10.00

I would recommend using the SMART bus (public transit) to get to the airport as they now serve the terminal directly from downtown and other suburbs 7 days a week. The fare is only $1.50 each way and I have found the service efficient.

NONE of them are cheap, but I used to go to one called US carpark on Merriman which was a little cheaper than the others. Especially for a week's parking or longer. Of course, they have shuttles to get you to the terminal.

I'd say the Green lot owned by the airport is the cheapest.
