I was a an art major and had to take many naked drawing classes, as i called them. I was surprised at how professional everyone was. if it is for a serious art class, I would do it. are you getting paid? at my school the models were always outsiders and they got paid big bucks...$40 an hour. but the one answerie is right...you will be labeled. we labeled our models as "the uncircumsized one" "the one with two inch long nipples" "the fat guy" and the "guy with major tan lines"...make sure they know your name and that might not happen. good luck

There's no reason you can't back out now or at any time. Ask if you could have a couple of weeks before making your decision, so you'll have time to see how comfortable you are with the other students.
In our life drawing sessions, many of the artists also model. The artists in most drawing groups are paying students and serious about their work - they would never do anything to purposely make a model feel uncomfortable - good models are too hard to find!
You might feel more comfortable clothed, and clothing can be interesting to draw as well - that may be an option.
And by the way... the comment about "Two-inch Tony" is pretty insensitive, in my opinion. Even in high school we didn't give our models derogatory names. (Real) artists see beauty in everyone.

If you think you'd be uncomfortable, then don't do it. Personally, in all the art classes I took, no student was EVER asked to model nude; a model was always hired. If your instructor has asked you to do this, or asked for volunteers, he/she should be reported to the school's administration immediately.

The first thing you should do is choose yourself a good nickname before someone does it for you.....the life model at my daughters college is known as two inch Tony....!

You should do whatever you feel is right. If you're nervous and having second thoughts, that's a good indication that you're not comfortable with it, and you shouldn't do something you don't want to.

It is natural to have 2nd thoughts, but many people do it, so you have no reason to be ashamed or something. Good luck in your modeling!
