We need to produce more goods in the Untied States, but how can the American economy do it. First, reform the tax code so business can concentrate making products for the cosumer instead of using CEO meeting figuring out how to pay Uncle Sam. Second, China is subsiding exporting so companies can China sell goods below production cost, and solution team up with Mexico, Japan and use WTO to file trade complaints against China for selling goods below production costs. Free Trade is good when the rules are uniform. Trade is bad when goverment rigs by China's example. America investment in green energy like Windmills, solar panels, nanotech will help produce internal employment for the blue collar people shafted by China's rig game in the long term. Should be goal of 30% renweable energy by 2040 for the Untied States, but allow exemption if energy costs get too high for companies to bear. We need to stop importing oil from the Middle East, but that wont occur till society walks to store instead of driving a car.

All the countries around the world are beginning to immerse themselves into a global economy where the ripple effects is felt throughout many countries. I think on one hand it is good, because it makes the countries dependent on one another for the best interests of the country, but on the other hand American's have a huge problem, we have a trade deficit that is climbing higher and higher and if we do not address this problem, it could create a potential sitiuation in the future, especially with the Chinese who are financing most of our debt. The U.S needs to look at the tax codes and trade policies, we need to begin to create more goods that are made in the U.S and do less importing, we are way to dependent on imports and if in the future a country has a disagreement with us, we could see ourselves in a sitiuation much like during the Carter administration and the oil embargo, where citizens were reduced to fuel rations. There is way too many products being imported into the U.S from one particular country, the federal governments needs to create additional tariffs and stop all tax breaks for outsourcing jobs.

We have never been completely self sufficient, and since the late 60's our economy has been increasing dependent on imported oil. Since most of the oil producing countries of the world don't much like us, I think you are worrying about the wrong country cutting off trade. Also the Bush administration is carrying on the trade policies of previous presidents. Given all the things they have messed up, you don't need to blame them for our trade with China to have something to complain about.

In America, self-sufficeint is no longer sufficient because labor cost here is inevitable anymore. Since slave labor had been outlawed, business owners have been trying to cut cost of labor for many years. In otherwords, they don't mind you producing things for them for free, but you and I do not deserved to get anything for free either. In order to get what you produce from this businesses, you and I have to pay out of our own pocket the consumer's prices. Or in the past, they have you work extra long hours to get the product produced. Ford corporation did that in their prime days of car making business. Good enough, yes?
