Ok, I need help with this poem I need to do for school. It has to be about radiation. I need to come up with a catchy poem that will help the class understand and know what radiation is. Now I am not asking you to do the poem for me, I just need some starters or ideas. You see, I am not tooo good at making up poems, so, if you could, please help me to come up with a starter for my poem or any ideas!!!! REMEMBER: THE POEM HAS TO BE ABOUT RADIATION!!!! Thanks! I appreciate all the help!

How about some terms first:

alpha - big, heavy, internal hazard, forms helium (for children's balloons) => like a jock who winds up just becoming a clown
beta minus - electrons from the heart (nucleus) of an atom
gamma - like radio waves or x-rays, very penetrating because it does not interact much (maybe like the mind of some goth person)
beta plus - a positron, antimatter. It eventually slows down, sees an electron, combines with it to annihilate, leaving behind two gammas (sort of like kids left over from a dissolved marriage)

So, start with the radiation and then go for the metaphor:

You and I
are like an electron
and positron pair, baby:
spinning closer and closer until
I fear we will annihilate. What will be
left: two lonely gammas
heading off to the cosmos, each
180 degrees apart?

Then vamp on the alpha and it being a jock. Is that what she wants from you? Etc. You add the slant to it. Remember that words at the very end of a line get the most emphasis. Words at the beginning get the next. Remember to camp it up when you read it. It should be maybe like an old beatnik poem. Have people snap their fingers when they relate.
