I am in my twenties and love knitting. I'm still more of a beginner, but I've been venturing into trying new things.

If you're just starting out, go to Michael's and get some cheap yarn and practice the basic stitches (knitting and purling) until you're comfortable. Get a beginner's book or a stitch dictionary. Then knit a project - most people start with a scarf... Go simple with just knits or try a ribbed scarf. Then move on and try some patterns.

Find a local yarn store. Most non-chain stores will have more high-end yarn, but they also have people who you can use as resources. Ask them questions! Usually, they're more than welcome to help. They may even offer lessons.

Also, don't be afraid to try new and harder patterns. Experiment. I recently moved on from scarves and made a beanie. Then i used the beanie pattern as a base to make a rasta hat. I also made a neck muffler. I was afraid that some of the stuff wouldn't come out, but the beauty of knitting is that you can always unravel and start over.

Hope that helps... Have fun!

I am not in my twenties but in my thirties and I love knitting for enjoyment. Knitting is making a big come back.

Yes, tons! Knitting is growing very quickly in the whole 18-35 demographic. If you are interested in meeting up with folks in that age range I suggest tracking Yahoo Groups to find folks.
