See, I bought an old '83 CX500 engine for $20. Thanks ya'll for the previous help in seeing if it turned over. I have a '72 CB350 which I use as a parts bike for my CB360. Now that I've scavanged all I can off it I was thinking of putting the new engine on it and building a cafe project around it. Can I put that engine on there without basically buiding a new frame to match the likely mismatched engine mounts? Thanks,

Ben

Well, guess it don't get any simpler than that. Since the old 350 is no good to me after stealin what I could off of it, looks like shes ebay bound as a parts bike. Now, I failed to mention that the engine did come with a frame and back wheel assembly, so I'm thinkin there still might be a spark of potential project there. I honestly look at any engine that'll turn over as fair game, yall know what I mean. But when it comes to real custom buildin, ya I guess I gotta upgrade my tree too heheh.

You are trying to shoehorn in an engine into a frame that is ancient, the brakes would not be up to the task of stopping that engine if you got the driveshaft issues sorted out into a chain drive bike frame.. etc. etc.
Besides that, the CX 500 was bar none, the UGLIEST engine Honda ever threw at a motorcycle. Abort this mission, return to computer to find Ebay listings...
You can find some pocket rocket bikes out there once in awhile like the RD-350 that are fun little 2 stroke screamers.. would be a great smaller bike cafe project.
What you are talking about is a monumentally difficult project for a fully equipped dealership, and they would flat out refuse to even try and do this for liability reasons I'm sure.

Fires right son a cx500 is a vtwin that sits perpendicular to the direction of travel has a drive shaft and was shoe horned into a frame of a different stripe I would suggest getting back what you can and finding a different engine unless your tree is a whole hell of alot better equiped than mine

Sounds simple dont it. Nothing will fit. save your hair. even the 350 and 360 are night and day. its also a shaft drive disaster. Scrub the mission Try to recover you $20
