Try doing a Repair Install (it won't erase your files and programs). The instructions are in the link below:

Am sure a lot of the above answers you didn't want to hear. Advent are made by packard bell who no longer sell in america or canada so we are stuck with them. It seems starnge that you can't get it off safe mode. Try re-loading windows from the recover cd or from the recovery programme if you didn't get a cd/dvd with the machine or burn one to disc when you first purchased it.

Please don't buy another advent or packard bell. For the same money you can get a better machine. Try Acer or HP.

I have just bought a new acer laptop, it was only £400. Took out extra insurance in case I accidentally damaged it

Back up all of your files/documents, format the drive and reinstall your system. If safe mode wont allow you to do it, remove the hard drive and put it in a friend's computer, back it up from there onto cds/dvds. I had to do this recently when my mate had a similar problem.

When you hopefully have it up and running again, make sure to defragment the hard drive regularly and watch out for spam when you are online.

To the guy that slagged off Packard Bell, I have one of those and it runs sweet :)

Reboot and before Windows starts up you keep tapping either F5 or F8

You should then get a menu. Choose the one you feel appropriate (probably "Last Good Configuration")

Good look
