No Child Left Behind is an act signed by President Bush on January 8, 2002. It gives the nation's schools historic educational reform based on:

*Stronger Accountability for results (refers to national mandated testing of students to rate schools : SAT)

*More Freedom for States and Communities (schools can decide for themselves how to spend government funding they receive)

*Encouraging proven education methods (puts emphasis on determining what educational programs have been proven effective through scientific research)

*More choices for parents (this law allows parents to choose another public school or free tutoring if their child attends a school that needs improvement or is deemed unsafe)
