Got a new laptop, but the @ and the " are the wrong way round?

Hi i've had this happen before, but i've forgotten how to sort it, basically i remember them telling me it was on American style and i need to change it in control panel, any help?

in the control panel change your regional and language option to "English United States"

Yeah I can confirm it is set onto the american setting, but you havent said which operating system it is. I can comment on XP, and the instructions are below:

Start > Settings> Control Panel> Date, Time, Language and Regional Options> Regional and Language Options

This comes up with a window

Click on the languages tab > details button > and here is where u can change the keyboard settings

reconfigure the keyboard to the British verison (Control Panel> Regional & language settings > Languages > details

You can fix it by control panel (Regional and Language options), you must set your keyboard language default to English U.S.A

take to pc world and they will solve this matter of yours in minutes. Remember they will charge you some money but look on to the bright side, you will have a proper laptop like everyone else. Or phone the manufacturer of your laptop and discuss this issue with them and they also will help you at no extra charge if under 1 years free manufacturer's warranty.
