I have an HD t.v. but use Playstation 2 to watch my movies. I recently bought an HD DVD and was wondering if the movie will even play on my PS2.

This is the truth.
HD-DVD will not play on the PS2. There are several reasons why it will not. 1. The PS2 was invented before the HD-DVD format was used, so there's no way to upgrade the PS2 to play HD-DVD. 2. And this is very important, Sony does not support HD-DVD format in any way, shape, or form. Sony supports Blu-ray, which is a competitor to the HD-DVD.
If you want to watch HD-DVD movies, then you can either 1. Get a HD-DVD player. It's about 500 bucks from Toshiba. 2. Get an X-Box 360 and the HD-DVD player add-on. The 360 itself cannot and will not play HD-DVD movies. Bill Gates is adamant that games will not be on HD-DVD, so that's why the 360 will not play HD-DVDs.
The PS3 can play DVD movies, as well as Blu-ray movies. It cannot and will not play HD-DVD movies because HD-DVD is a rival.
You can get an LG HD-DVD/Blu-ray player for about 1100 bucks that plays both HD-DVD and Blu-ray disks.

The PS2 has a DVD drive used for 'regular' DVDs.
HD-DVD will not play on a PS2 or any other regular DVD player.
HD-DVD is a completely different format than DVD and requires a HD-DVD player.
Some HD-DVD titles have the HD-DVD format and the DVD format available in the same package (same disc even), doubt those will play in your PS2 though.
The short answer and safe answer to your question is no, you like.can not play an HD-DVD in your PS2.
If you have an interest, get a XBOX360 and the HD-DVD add-on drive and play all of the HD-DVD movies you want. Of course, you can also purchase a stand alone HD-DVD player as well.

It wont be as good of quality but it will work you perfurably should get a hd dvd player.

if they are (blue ray )then no they will not , they do play on ps3
