make your oil leak slightly and then just lose all of it within 20 minutes over a course of about two weeks?


p.s. I have a 2000 grand am---nothing but problems....

Yes. With spin-on oil filters, if the filter gasket does not seat properly against the engine (or other designated surface) the oil will leak out, maybe quite dramatically. Oil pressure on start up can be over 75psi. As a reference, your tires are filled to about 35psi. Note that when you install a spin-on oil filter, put clean oil all over the gasket so it will slide as you tighten it against the filter boss. Do correct this problem ASAP as your engine will be damaged or ruined without oil.

Yes if you use the wrong filter it will make a partial seal allowing a small amount of oil to leak, but due to the fact the seal is incorrect the pressure can cause blow-by dumping all of the oil.

The filter can be the problem but you will definitely see puddles under the car and on the frame of the car.

Yeah it can. Go buy the right one and an extra quart of oil and do it right before you destroy the engine. Good luck

The problem is not the oil filter...it began the day you purhased a Grand Am. Come on, a Ponitac?????

Yes, it certainly can. It probably doesn't fit properly and has a poor seal.

if its the wrong size it could leak.why did you get the wrong size filter?
