The spectrum of the sun has hundreds of strong lines of iron but very weak lines of helium. A star of spectral type B has strong helium but very weak iron lines.

Yes, yes it does.

More to the point, it also means that the sun has all sorts of really neat forms of iron that the other star hasn't made..

as a general rule, yes. however, it is quite possible that the sun is closer to death because, as a star ages, it convert more of its helium and other elements into heavier ones (ie iron and nickel). So, it could also mean that the sun is older than the spectral B star. Whichever you prefer
