Why are there areas of New Orleans that still need to be cleaned up 1 1/2 years after Katrina?

The reason is that there's simply no way to clean it all up quickly. Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana aren't going to be back to normal for a long time. It's a big job!

I'm pretty sure most of those areas needed a good cleanup even BEFORE Katrina
