I have service with Alltel and my 2-year contract will be up in 58 days. After those 58 days, can I just quit and switch to Verizon without paying any fees? Will I get my deposit back? Also, how is Verizon and the Chocolate phone. I want to get the Strawberry Chocolate but I would like to know from people who have one and who also have Verizon service.

Sorry so many details but I have a lot of questions! Also, can I just go and buy a phone outright and then get a plan with Verizon or do I have to buy one of their phones? Thanks!!

yes, when your contract is up with alltel you can go to any carrier you want without paying an early termination fee. BUT you should find out now if alltel is going to auto renew you for another 1 or 2 years on the date your contract expires. because if that's the case, then you will be stuck with a big fee for switching to another carrier. I used to work for verizon, their service is the best- more coverage everywhere. as for your deposit, that has to do with your credit rating that alltel determined when you began service with them so ask them also if they will apply that to your last bill or send you a refund check. I don't know their policy on that. you can port your alltel number over to verizon (that's the dept I used to work in) so you don't have to tell 100 people what your new verizon number is. phones are carrier specific though- you can't buy a phone at a cingular store and ask tmobile to activate it. if you want verizon service, you have to buy one of their phones. I don't know anything about those LG phones but I have always had motorola and they are great. I have verizon's GPS service and I never get lost.

1. Yes.
2. Deposit, is usually applied to your bill, check your plan, available on Alltel website, to see if your deposit is refundable.
3. Verizon is generally considered best reception around Boston, MA and New England where I live.
4. No idea about the Chocolate phone, but most handset differences are personal style/preference. Good luck!

Not too sure about verizon service, but it supposedly has the best service out of all the other networks. Also, my friend's brother has a chocolate and likes it. Plus, I think it's really cute. Also not sure about the the fees, but most companies, after your contract is almost up, offers you new free phones because they want to keep your business, so you might want to think about it before you switch.

Yes, after your contract is up, notify them you are cancelling service (so they won't keep sending bills) -they may even offer a deal to keep you... Not sure about the deposit, never had that before. opinions vary on the choclate phone. Yes,you will have to buy one of Verizons phone and start a new contract with them, they;re pretty good service, biggest calling area and selections of phones. Their best deals are 2 yr. contracts with (many deals to choose from) and at end of 2 yrs. 1/2 off towards new phone etc... Went on vacation, relatives phones didnt work, but verizon was fine.. best of luck

Ok First Of All, I've Had Verizon and it gets GREAT Service, but I absolutely, HATE the Chocolate Phones, They Suck, My cousin had her Mint Chocolate for a month and it broke after one drop. My Bestfriend has the Chocolate, and Hates it. They Aren't Durable at all, the sensor Touch Pad messes up after 2 months. It's An Awful Phone.

You should wait until your contract expires before switching; do some research about cell phone service providers.
