Harley's do because there owners are "dip-sticks" and it the only way they can tell if it low on Harley-oil.

No jap-crap, rice grinder I've worked on had a low oil indicator on the cap. Just a window on the side of the engine.

Some do. Some don't. My Royal Star has a window; many European bikes do. Harley is usually a visual check in the oil tank under the seat.

Provide more specifics as to the make, model, and year of bike for a better answer.

Many older bikes and cruisers use dipsticks.

For the late maodel and sportbikes a dipstick is not practicle and a site glass is used.

The site galss is just that. A piece of glass on the engine case that allows you to view the oil level. Basically, If you can see the oil in the site glass on level ground it is good if not add oil.

So, no not all bikes have dipsticks. There is a good percentage of bikes with a site glass.

Some do and some don't. I've had both varieties. My old Honda Nighthawk 450 had a dipstick. My Yamaha Virago 700, one year older, didn't -- you'd check the oil level by looking at a little clear window into the engine compartment.

Some have two (like mine) for engine oil and transmission, some have a sight glass, and some have the dipstick riding it on the seat.

Yes, but it's a short one, like the transmission fluid dipstick on a regular car engine.

I don't know how else to answer this question other than to say that many bikes do have a dipstick and many don't.
