During WWII (or even before), within the Nazi regime what was the difference between the "black coats" and the "brown coats"? And what was the difference between the SS and the Waffen SS if any? Was watching something on the History Channel a couple nights ago and didn't really understand what the meant.

there's the SS and the SA and the gestapo. I'm not really sure of the difference. They wore different colored uniforms and were all supposed to make sure the Germans obeyed the rules Hitler set.
