Look around you. Would it help if you change your circumstances? What if you moved to another location, or looked for a different job, or finally get up the nerve to leave the people who are constantly bringing you down. If it's not outside influences, then some deep introspection is in order. Are you standing in your own way? Are you your biggest enemy? Start with baby steps,... find one area you feel you can improve, and just concentrate on that.

it is an illusion. when you can't catch a break, it is because something else is happening: perhaps a lesson or some altogether different opportunity. If you pay attention, you will learn something or you might find a way to go that you would have overlooked. It is easy to miss, though.
the other thing is to expect good things. our expectations do have a way of becoming true. I can't explain why, but I know it happens. Somehow bad expectations are a magnet for bad circumstances to flow toward a person. Another thing I have noticed is that people who have some kind of life plan really seem to do better. I am thinking of one person in particular. What makes him stand out in my mind is that he has an attitude of believing what he wants to believe (and its usually positive) and then he has a plan which he has pretty much followed and it has led him to the job he wanted, he will retire early and start his own business doing something he thinks is fun, and he is usually happy.
Hope this helps.

I have always found that the harder I work, the luckier I become. Catching a break usually means for someone or something to make it easier for us to succeed. Not catching one does not mean you can't succeed, just means you have to work harder for it. Desire is the key. If you want it bad enough, you will do what it takes to get it. The trap is if you think the low road is the best path. It sometimes may look easier initially, but you will find the cost is usually much higher in the end than if you took the high road.

I start by taking a break and putting on some music. then I see if I can change my approach to whatever I'm trying to accomplish... or at least change my perspective.
