My 1 year old daughter stuck a metal nail clipper into the PCMCIA slot on my computer, now it won't turn on...how can I fix it?

Yikes... well you may be out of luck! There isn't anything I can tell you to do besides take it to your local computer repair shop. If the motherboard is shot - they may be able to replace it.

That sounds like it could have been fatal to the Computer. If it's under Warranty I suggest going that route.

Play dumb and don't reveal the nail clipper informatrion

I'm not sure how that would short out the whole computer...try removing the battery for a few minutes then put it back in and try again. If it's still no go, and it's still under warranty, contact your manufacturer and they will fix it.

More than likely it shorted out a transistor or capacitor....i would take it to a repair center to determine what kind of damage has been done if any.

Don't know but what are you using to ask this question with if your computer shorted out?

TRY reset by unplugging and plugging back in

A new power supply is inexpensive, may even be covered on the warranty.
Dell? HP?
