an easy way to tell stalagmites and stalagtites apart, is stalagTITES have to hold on TIGHT to the ceiling so they dont fall off, so b is wrong, and i think that would make a wrong.

i think they contain minerals, which arent always salts, so c is wrong

that leaves D, which sounds reasonable

I like D. If you get the chance, take a trip to Mammoth Cave in KY. It's a National Park. You'll learn all you ever wanted to know about stalagmites and stalagtites.

stalagmite- a conical deposit of mineral matter that is developed upward from the floor of a cave by the action of dripping water. It is usually composed of calcite.

They are formed from water with salts in it. We are not talking about table salt, but the dissolved minerals in the earth.
C is correct also.
