They all have their pros and cons for you and your baby. You have to find what works best for you. Pamper newborn are good for all babies start there. Huggies are good also and I use Luvs sometimes which are cheaper. The off brands tried once and they do not hold very much, they are cheaper for a reason.

I would wait until you have the baby. Different diaper brands, and diaper types within the brand, work for different babies. When my baby was born, she could only wear Pampers Swaddlers. Everything else was either too big, or didn't hold enough volume. But if you go out and buy a ton of the Swaddlers size Newborn, what if your baby is born bigger, or with chubby legs? Then you won't be able to use them. Also, you have no idea how long your baby will stay in any given size.
You have to go to the grovery store at least once a week anyway, so it is not such a big deal to buy diapers as you need them.

Well first off I wouldnt reccomend buying Diapers right now. True you could never have enough diapers but on the other hand who knows how long your baby would be in the newborn diapers... you dont want to buy more than whats needed. My son grew so quickly that I bought a whole bunch of newborn diapers and ended up having to give a lot away. Then after newborn size I didnt want to make the same mistake but ended up doing the same thing buying more than I needed. But whose to say how much exactly is needed ya know... I ended up giving the size one diapers away also. Now he is 4 1/2 months wearing a size two and I bought a case of those we will see if I have to give these away because he is growing rapidly. Basically your baby could grow just as much and you dont want to start off by buying a bunch of diapers you just going to have to give away when you could use that money on something else for the baby. I have an idea request diapers for the baby shower or start buying a certain amount at a time like NB buy like 2-3 packs and Size 1 buy 2-3 packs etc. that way you would know how much diapers your baby will run thru. To me it didnt seem as bad as everyone was telling me about how he would go thru a million diapers at a time... it wasnt like that but every baby is different. Oh and I use Huggies they seem the best right now for me. Well good Luck sorrie this is sooo long smiles but hope it helped!

I think Huggies and Pampers are fairly equal. We generally use Huggies because they're cheaper, but use Pampers when we can get a better deal. Talk to friends to find out about how many of each size to buy, and buy from a store that will let you exchange without a receipt (or tape the receipt to the front of the package when you put it in storage). Also, the best choice is to buy in bulk. If you're a member of Costco or Sams Club, get them there. Also check out www.amamzon.com/grocery and www.1800diapers.com (benefits of online: free shipping to your house, no sales tax) for great deals and learn how to figure out the price on a per diaper basis (price divided by number in package).
It seems that Pampers has a new program where you can trade in points for baby items, so if you're going to be loyal to the brand then make sure to save and redeem the points online.

Since your only 3 months pregnant, you shouldn't buy anything until you're in your full term pregnancy. If you're planning on having a baby shower expect diapers as a gift. Normally people choose between Huggies or Pampers. I used pampers when my child was an infant but now I use Huggies and he's a toddler now. They have their pros and cons.

I don't think you necessarily should buy diapers now. What you'll probably need is Huggies for newborns with a "curve" for an umbilical cord. One or two packs will be enough, 'cos the cord would fall off in about 2 weeks after the baby's birth. And then I would suggest to experiment with diapers - buy every time a new kind and see in which your baby would feel more comfortable.

Cloth is definitely a very good option. I have cloth diapered both of my children and was very happy w/ it. Plus, it's much less expensive in the long haul than disposables (not to mention better for health and for the earth).
If you choose disposables, there are earth friendly brands now. Yay!
I wouldn't recommend buying too many of the small sizes. Newborns do go through a ton of diapers, but you can't be sure until baby is born how big s/he will be (my last u/s a couple of days before my son was born said 8lbs, he was 9lbs 10oz!). Your baby might be small or large. Buy a pack or 2 of each of the smaller sizes, then send somebody out for more when you find out which size you'll actually need.

I started with Pampers b/c they were the most expensive so I figured they were the best. that was also what the hospital used. but then I found I liked Huggies while I was breastfeeding b/c they have an elastic back which holds in the loose breast milk poopy (otherwise you will become familiar with the term "crap back" very soon!). If you are formula feeding I would do Luvs b/c they are cheaper. The generic brands SUCK! Don't bother!

If you have the extra money right now, you can do that, it will come in handy. If you shop at Sam's or Costco, they sell diapers by the box. I always bought the Huggies there; they were inexpensive and my kids didn't wet through them through the night. I'd only get one or 2 packages of newborns; they grow really quickly. I found through both kids that most of the stuff people/books tell you that you need are really not necessary.

I preferred Pampers for a while. Later on I realized some store brands are actually just as good and cheaper. Just remember, those newborn diapers only fit for the first few weeks, so try not to go overboard stocking up!
BTW, it doesn't hurt to hint that you wouldn't mind getting them as baby shower gifts as well. :0)
Congrats and good luck!
