Its possible to get a goverment business grant for a single person,at least here in the US.Banks are very tough to get a loan from, and they see that as a very high risk.Restraunts are the hardest loans to get, regardless of size.My life dream has been to open a sandwich shop,so the past 3 years i bought all the kitchen equipment i could for cash. Now I have everything needed including the kitchen sinks to open my shop so I didnt have to take a loan out for the equipment. The only problem is I cant see paying anyone 1 to 3 thousand a month to lease a building. So Im thinking on building me a mobile kitchen out of a large truck which i also purchased. So much red tape its not even funny. But Im almost there.Did you ever think of starting a small sandwich or hotdog cart business?Good profit if you have the location.Good luck to you!

You can't afford to open a shop. It is possible to raise a business loan from a bank, but I don't think you appear to know much about writing a business plan. If you haven't been to Uni and are under 30 you can apply to the Prince's trust for a business start-up loan (but you still need to write a business plan). I recommend you make a nice-looking basket of sandwiches and knock on the doors of local businesses at lunchtimes, it's easy cash'n'hand work, and its a start.

Well, first, try to find if there are any free small business classes around. They have them here in the US and knowing how to run a small business is more important than knowing what you want to do.
Second, you might try selling your sandwiches to shops and restaurants around your area. It's going to take a little money to get the "materials" (bread, etc.) but you could check with small shops, delis, restaurants to see if they would carry your sandwiches. Make a few for them to sample and if they like it they may agree to sell them and you both split the profits. There's a famous TV chef here who was also broke with two sons and started making cakes and pies and stuff and went around to different food shops and got them to agree to sell her stuff. Her food became so famous that she opened her own shop and them became a famous TV chef. But you have to start small. What if you only THINK you make great sandwiches? what if, in reality, your sandwiches suck? Make a variety of sandwiches, get friends to taste them, critique them, until you hit on a recipie that is universally liked. They see if shops or restaurants or delis will carry them. Start small... it will get bigger later.
or you could sell them to local schools. You'll have to make hundreds though. And if you're really desperate, make some, put them in a basket and sell them on the street near train stations, constructions sites, etc. You have to be careful here. authorities have to be careful about people selling food on the street 9health issues) and may not let you do it.
