it was an organisation formed by the (up-till-then) ruling elite- Democrat plantation owners- for the purpose of keeping the uppity ex-slaves in line (just in case they thought being "freed" by a Republican President actually meant anything- eg. the right to own guns for self defense).

"liberal" or "conservative" are terms which relate to ones own society, and not relations towards another subjugated/dominated society/population. If you need proof of that, just look up how many de-facto colonial wars were fought by so-called "progressive" regimes like Russia, China, Cuba

BTW, in answer to the formation of the KKK, the Republicans (and Federal Vets) formed the NRA

The Klu Klux Klan has the dubious distinction of being the United States first Terrorist organization. This may or may not be true depending on your views concerning Genocide and the Native Americans, but the label still fits. The Klu Klux Klan killed, raped and injured thousands of African Americans (as well as what they concsidered African American Sympathizers) and continue to do so to this day. Conservative and Liberal are labels that you would use for a political party. The Klu Klux klan is based on the mistaken idea that Whites should be superior to all other races. The reason that this is not a political ideology is that they were not willing to follow due process or the laws of the land to advance their beliefs. At that point their actions ceased to be political and became acts of hatred and terror.

you're incorrect and also you sound ignorant your self. i do not care what the KKK's reason is and what they're truly attempting to finish, yet GSA's are not to any extent further attempting to implement their beliefs onto others. GSA's are trying to spread expertise that gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgenders are in simple terms as favourite actually everyone looks immediately human beings and they are trying to remove any unfavorable connotations that are being hung on my the ignorant in the route of the LGBT. So in short, GSA's are trying to discourage hate and absence of information, no longer promoting them. GSA's are not attempting to remove immediately or ignorant human beings and absolutely no longer American conservatives. GSA's are not aggravating about the conservatives or congress at the same time as they comprehend they their self belief and help.
