Your start and end date, whether they would rehire you, and your job description. They aren't allowed to get into depth about why you aren't there or anything. Good Luck =)

The law regarding this is that if a person has signed a release statement for a company to gain information about you then a former employer may release or answer questions regarding any detail of your employment with them. The catch is that they are only allowed to give out truthful information about you, no embellishing the truth "well, he seemed like he had a drug problem." or anything like that. They are able to release information about why you were fired, why you quit, performance review or issues, but it must be truthful. If they lie or say things about you that are not true then it is slander.

The only thing you can release is dates of employment and position if you are an ex employee. If you are a current employee the only thing you give out is dates of employment and position. Now, if you have a signed release from the employee the person requesting the verification can verify salary, dates of employment and position, dates of raises, etc.

they can confirm your title, dates of employment and if you are eligible for re-hire. they can release more information if you have signed an authorization allowing them to do this.

human resoure is only allowed to tell your refferences that you where employed at your work place. They can not leagally say anything bad about you as a employee. this would be slander and the company can get into a lot of trouble.
