last week we had a crazy snow storm and on the news they said do not go out on the roads unless its an emergency. a lot of roads were shut down too. Well, a lot of people didnt show up to work, including myself, and they are now saying we have to use a vacation or a personal day to cover it.....is this right?

Unless the company decides to close the office and pay everybody it is legal to do that. The fact that some people came in to work and worked the day means that the company can not give those who did not come to work a paid day off. It wouldn't be fair to those who did come in to work, and the next time fewer people would try to come to work.

Sorry.

Sorry but unless the company closed they can make you use one of your days.
Look at it this way, if you were one of the few that did go to work it wouldn't be fair to not "punish" the ones that didn't show up.
Sucks!

It may not seem morally correct, but your company can make you use a vacation or personal day to cover the time missed.
