Median is high, but there are so many sub-markets it doesnt matter. Go to realtor.com to find active listing for the arrea you are looking, it'll giva ya an idea. Pflugerville is about 170k for nice new homes, etc.

Low income housing left Austin a long time ago, there is no demand because the people are pretty much gone too. The dirt alone costs a fortune in the city.
