We are thinking of going on a romantic island vacation early in 2008. We have both been to the Dominican and Mayan Rivieria but would like to try something different. We are in our late 40's and fairly active definite snorkelers but never scuba. We are both laid back people not that interested in night life or cuisine (sweetie is meat and potatos guy). Any and all information will be welcome.

I've been to the Bahamas about 9 times(Nassau) and each time it got worse. The Mayan Riviera is much nicer. I've heard good things about Barbados. It's also hard to find a 7 night stay in the Bahamas and it's exspensive. go to trip advisor.

Barbados is without a doubt a better vacation choice. I used to live with my 2 friends and their parents temporarily.

It is my favourite country. Not only the weather being great, but people are friendly, too. Sightseeings are lovely, too. I've been there 5 times already and planning a 6th one soon, but the upcoming one to bring my brother out there. :D

I just spent a week in Nassau and it was so beautiful that I can't find the words to quite explain it. There was a friendly atmosphere and you could safely make your own excursions and leave your resort property without worry of being in any kind of danger. I would highly suggest this as a prime vacation spot. I have been all over the caribbean islands and this atlantic island really beat them all on many levels

Barbados, no doubt. The Bahamas is nice, but you can take a trip there anytime. Barbados is one of those places that you won't get a chance to visit as often.

Bahamas or nothing at all. This is a place where you can enjoy lots of sunshine, turquoise water and "pink sand (Harbour Island).
