Moths are nocturnal because birds hunt in the day, their only defense against that was to come out at night. The reason they are attracted to lights is because they have always used to moon to navigate, and once people began to make artificial lights they became confused

Because during the day light is not as bright. Because moth's are so attracted to light sunlight dims out all other light. Moth's are not attracted to the uv rays that sunlight gives they are more prone to artificial light. So at night these lights are stronger and more visable.
