hold the middle button and the menu button until the apple symbol comes up. now simply insert a power source and it should be fine

Put it down on the table, face up. Using the index fingers of both hands, press down on the outter circle, pushing toward the top, and the inner circle, pressing toward the bottom (although it might the top as well, I forget). Hold for a few seconds, and it should reset.

on apple's website there is a really good troubleshooting guide. It probably depends on the model, but you should look there. I had a similar problem and it solved it easily by looking at the site.
