I receive a newsletter from Education World and they have these very neat worksheets called "Writing Bug". Check them out:

Let It Snow!
Describe snow to someone who has never seen snow.

Write about a specific goal you would like to achieve in the year ahead.

An Interview With a President

My Best Teacher Ever

This one is my favorite. "Pretend you are stranded on an island. Write a letter to describe what you see on your island and three things you really wish you had on your island. Be sure to explain in the letter exactly what you see. " Place the message in empty water bottles. MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE.

Think about a thing you asked your parent/guardian say no to you now write to explain what you asked or wished and they said no
