I've used the patch but I just have a never-ending period then I used orthoevra ( i think that's what it was called) but it kept me bloated. If there's something that makes me lose weight instead of gain it, that'd be perfect:)

I have heard depo(the shot) and ortho(the patch) have the worst side effects, both involve problems with persistent bleeding and spotting and when you WANT to get pregnant, coming of depo prevents it for up to something like a year. Barrier methods(condoms, diaphrams, female condom) have no side effects, but are not as effective as hormonal ones. You might look into trying a copper IUD- no hormones so no hormonal side effects, but they are still very effective. I am currently on NuvaRing and have not yet experienced any bad side effects. Good luck.

I took othoevera I hated it as well, I tried the patch and the damn thing fell off after my showers, I'm on Loestrin24Fe and it's been good so far (1 year). There's not that many side effect after the first two months but I did gain a little bit and I mean a little bit of weight along with it, but I'm not moody with this pill.
I have heard some bad things about the depo shot, but the best thing you can do is talk to your gyno, they would know best.

Nothing with a lot of hormone on top of the ones you already naturally have will make you lose weight. But definitely can go for a low hormone BC pills that will have less side effects. I would go for Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo. Talk to your doc and see what he says. Also my doc said a lot of women say nothing but good things about Nomex, so just talk to gyno and he will let you try something that is just right for you and your body. Good luck!

Depro-provera is great if you want to not get pregnant and also have difficulty getting pregnant when you actually want to. Stay away from that if you have intentions of getting pregnant in a timely way in the future. It takes a while for your body to get back to a normal cycle after using that stuff. A condom has no side affects if not allergic to them, also abstinance is a sure thing.

Abstinence is the best birth control, yet I digress. From my girlfriends point of view as well as a few other female friends, Depo Provera seems to work the best.
