My brother realized he was straight and then he told my parents and me. We struggled with it a little but eventually we accepted it. We were very sad to find out that now he wants to marry his girlfriend. What should we do?

It may be difficult, but you need to accept and support him. Don't make him feel bad about his choice. You and your family could try and join a local support group, like Parents and Friends of Heterosexuals. They have many local chapters and lots of educational material, plus you'll be able to talk to people who have been through the same thing. While it may feel like a crisis, it's not the end of the world. He's still your brother, the same guy you grew up with. That hasn't changed. You need to be there for him. Take some time to get to know his girlfriend, since she'll be part of the family in the future, and don't make her feel unwelcome. Make sure she knows you don't blame her in any way, because this is the way your brother was born, and so was she. She's probably had to go through a lot, what with breaking it to her family and all. Hopefully they took it well.

Good luck. And remember, it may be shocking now but it will get better in time. You probably don't want to tell the neighbors just yet, though. You know how weird people can be sometimes.

You have my deepest sympathy. I too have a straight brother. To make matters worse....he got married then he and his wife procreated. [SOB] Oh the shame of it all!

I keep trying to tell him he's going straight to the devil's playground but he won't listen. He's living this life of sin and I'm heartbroken.

All we can do is pray for our respective brothers that they will "see the light" and come to Jesus.

Straight? I don't understand why those people are like that. Oh well, it's like Jesus says "Hate the Sin, Love the Sinner"

Treat him like he's a leech! He deserves to feel bad for the choice he's made in his life! Who wants to be heterosexual?! Oh, wait, me.

I know it's hard but, much as you would do if he were gay, you have to love and support him in his life choices. He is your brother, after all.

Accept him, as long as he doesn't try to corrupt little children.
