The number pad will not work. The NUM lock is not the problem. I moved this keyboard to a different computer and it worked fine. What's a reason why it won't work on this computer?

Good question...

I would venture a guess that the computer that it doesn't work on is set to a non-standard keyboard layout.

But that is only a guess. Have you tried a different keyboard on the computer that has the problem?

Go to the manufacturer's website and download the drivers for your keyboard. Windows uses default drivers which may not work perfectly with every keyboard.

It has no longer something to do with a deadly disease. attempt re-installation the OS (nonetheless i ask your self the type you will effectively try this without working keyboard and/or mouse). If that would not artwork, then it extremely is unquestionably a hardware difficulty. deliver it to Compaq to repair the difficulty. no rely if it remains decrease than guarantee, then you could get a alternative.
