he may have some issues he has not resolved from his past, where he got hurt, and just has trust issues. maybe growing up he saw some bad things out of his parents, and maybe he is afraid.

Several reasons that I can think of, which most women wont seem to consider or admit too.
Many, many women are not worth commiting to in our view.
Many men wont commit, for they dont want to have to walk off later. In many of us guys view, Women seem to be able to commit, but unable to see it through. So at least we guys are honest about it when we wont commit. More women file for divorce then men do, and no, not nearly as many of them have good reason as most women want to beleive.
Many men dont see a good reason to in essence, willing give up half of our stuff to some women, who did us no more a favor then we did her.
Many men have come to realize that women expect to take a man and then try to mold, correct, fix, fashion him. They just dont think they are in need of these things being done. And if they do see the need, they will do it themselves.
I am sure there are a lot more answers that others will offer. But that is my contribution to the matter.
