I have got a full load of things to do all the time and therefore can't always make commitments, and my friend just called asking if I would lead Bible study next Monday. I've had to skip Bible study a few times b/c I was too busy. He wants to meet with me on Thursday to plan it, and I don't have another commitment, it's just that that's the only time I can find to clean and get my stuff together before heading back home for spring break on Friday. It's not possible for me to head home any later on Friday.
I feel bad b/c I'm always telling him that I can't make bible study or just outright skipping b/c I'm busy with schoolwork and other things in my life. I don't want to lie to him, but how do I get him to understand that I can't always agree to make commitments?
I feel like all I tell him is "sorry I can't come, I'm too busy,", or "sorry i've got this that i've got to do instead".

Are you sure that is the only reason he keeps calling you?
If you really cannot participate in what he is calling you for, just tell him. It's better for him to understand that you can't so he can try to find someone else.
Just say no.

Tell your friend that when you have some free time you will spend a day with her doing the things that both of you enjoy doing together.

I would be honest with him, tell him you'd like to get involved with it again at some point, but right now, you have too many other things going on in your life.

maybe tell him the truth that u know it sounds bad and wishy washy, but here is the truth, and hope he understands.
if my friend kept backing out with busy or cant and no really heart to heart i would think they were blowing me off and it was really me,
