You need to get your web site address into all the major search engine directories. You can submit it to the Yahoo! directory for free and it will be placed in a crawler position, which means it will crawl up the list and may take a way long time to bust the top ten.

You can also hire an SEO (Search Engine Optimization) company, like I did. I use submitnet.net. They taught me how to create the right mega tags and keywords to draw visitors to my site. And that's just the beginning of what they have to offer. The first three months are free and it's just $54 every three months after that. (And don't let anyone tell you that using an SEO will get you banned from the directories. Duh. It will not.) Did it work? Yes! I contrated with them in April 2006 and by that summer I was listed on all the major search engines, and currently I am on page one at #1 on many of them, including Yahoo!, MSN, Alta Vista, Google, and #2 on AOL--which is hard to crack, for some reason.

You can also surf the net for web sites like yours and try to link up with them--you list their link, they list yours. Some sites have links pages and a click just for linking up, and if they don't, email the webmaster and ask, but always promise and do put their URL on your site too. Whenever you email someone, include your URL. Plus, if wikipedia has a page about the same content as your web site, you can put your link on its External Links. For instance, my web site is a multi-media Brandon Lee resourse, so I put my URL on wikipedia's External Links for the Brandon Lee page and The Crow page.

Do all you can, be patient, and good luck!
