why exactly is the rolls royce so expensive?

Fantom costs like 700,000 .. i dont understand why.. is it the leather or the engine.. i mean to me it looks kinda ugly anyways.. if i had the money id prefer a lambo.

The car is hand built and not on an assembly line. The materials that are used are the very best. Hand selected Connely leather,selected pieces of burled walnut, metal castings that are plated instead of stamped anodized parts, drive lines that will go 400,000 miles, the list goes on and on.

To expand on the first answer....they are handmade cars for the most part. A Rolls is a piece of craftsmanship like none other. Only the finest materials from top to bottom are used. A Rolls Royce is the ultimate in luxury and sophistication. The first one was produced in 1904.

Like other super cars it's hand made from hand made parts. The parts themselves are usually made from rare or luxurious materials that is simply not found in other cars like Mahogany wood panels for example. In other cars these would be plastic laminates of some kind not real wood. Also the tolerances and operation of the vehicle tends to be way above the norm for regular cars. The other more damning thing is that so few are built as these cars are built strictly to order not in huge lots like other cars.

Because of the great quality and they take their time to make sure every single detail is perfect. I'm not saying that cheaper cars can't be of great quality, but they are mass produced unlike Rolls Royce, Lamdo, Ferrari, ETC. Limited production is also another reason why Rolls are so expensive.
